Lantern Building

Stop by the booth to create a custom lantern! These lanterns are created to honor ancestors, loved ones, and friends who have passed on. During the culmination of the festival, they will be released on the water to guide these spirits back beyond the veil.Different inks, paints, and pencils will be available for you to use to create your decorations on the four panels of the floating lantern. Decorations can be simple or complex, so long as they are made with thoughts of the loved one in mind.

You can decorate all four sides of your lantern before pasting it together and placing it on a wooden stand. A candle in the middle will be lit just before the lanterns are all released into the water.
